| If the oil pan has a dent in it, then it should have been replaced (and the pick up too if needed, but recommended to do so anyway). A small dent to the underside is enough to impede oil flow. The pick up and the clearance to the bottom of the oil pan is very small. When looking to install a different motor into the car, one of the first things you should look for is any visible signs of damage to the oil pan. If a dent exists then the pan should be removed and the pick up further inspected.
